The project’s main objective will be to develop a methodological framework for assessing sustainable innovation and managing multi-disciplinary solutions through public engagement
EU Research Framework Program, Action Plans mainstreaming Science in Society actions in research
The CASI project aims to develop a methodological framework for the assessment of Sustainable Innovations and elaborates success factors of the management of a multidisciplinary, broad-based diffusion of Sustainable Innovations. The system of research, technological development and innovation is to be further developed through the engagement and agreement of a broad range of stakeholders - industry, policy makers, academia, civil society and the general public.
Within this overarching goal, the project addresses and pursues selected issues in the following work steps:
- Developing a working definition of Sustainable Innovation derived from existing definitions, scientific literature, and current expert knowledge within and outside the consortium.
- Carrying out various group-based survey procedures with the aim of evaluating innovation processes under the social dimension and achieving broader participation
- Development of a common understanding of good practice in the management of sustainable innovations
- Conceptualization of a framework for the assessment and management of sustainable innovations
- Developing specific policy recommendations to improve innovation management and increase consideration of sustainability based on the assessment and management framework concept produced and the results of the group interviews.
The research consortium includes 19 partners from 12 EU Member States. Through a network of country correspondents, CASI will cover the entire European region.
