On 22nd June 2022, the kick-off meeting of the Horizon Europe project greenSME took place in Eibar (Spain). Michael Kohlgrüber, Clara Behrend and Adrian Götting from TU Dortmund University are involved in the project. The greenSME project aims to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the manufacturing industry to move towards environmental, digital and social sustainability.

In the project greenSME, a comprehensive strategy for the sustainability of small and medium-sized enterprises in the manufacturing industry is being developed. First and foremost, SMEs will be supported directlyin adopting Advanced Technologies (AT) to become more environmentally sustainable and climate neutral, remain competitive and maximise the benefits for all parts of society. It is envisaged that small and medium-sized enterprises will also receive financial support for the implementation of various measures. Above that, the greenSME HUB platform is being developed - a knowledge-sharing community that brings together and connects manufacturing companies and other stakeholders. The overall vision of greenSME is to develop and implement a long-term roadmap for sustainable SME development.

With the experience and expertise in the field of social innovation in the context of technological innovation, the researchers of the Social Research Centre of TU Dortmund University contribute to the project. The Social Research Centre is thereby responsible for building an EU sustainability ecosystem in the manufacturing sector and developing a long-term roadmap towards it. Michael Kohlgrüber and Clara Behrend participated in the kick-off meeting in Eibar, Spain. In the Basque Country, partners from six countries active in the fields of research and development, communication and industry came together to work towards greener production.
