Jürgen Howaldt opens the 7th CRISES Conference in Montreal

In his opening lecture at the 7th International CRISES Conference in Montreal, Jürgen Howaldt adressed the role of social innovation in the age of multiple crises. He presented social innovation as an essential response to complex challenges in various sectors (education, environment, health, etc.) and as a lever for transforming existing systems. In this sense, social innovation is described as a new form of social change and social transformation that is becoming increasingly important in view of the failure of the market and politics. At the same time, his presentation focused on the dynamics of supporting social innovation in Europe and the importance of integrating it into public policy.
The conference, organized by CRISES and attended by more than 200 international participants, took place in Montreal from 14 to 16 April. The Centre de recherche sur les innovations sociales (Centre for Research on Social Innovations - CRISES) is an inter-university and multidisciplinary research center in Quebec and one of the most traditional institutions for research on social innovations.
