On Tuesday, June 9, 2026, the fifth workshop for the Climate City Dash 2.0 project took place at Dortmund City Hall. Together with companies from Dortmund, we discussed roads to climate neutrality.

The Climate City Dash 2.0 project is funded under the NetZeroCities initiative, and during the workshop, the City of Dortmund reported on receiving the EU Mission Label. This label was officially presented at the NetZeroCities conference in Turin. Although the dialogue with local businesses has been ongoing for nearly two years, the official launch of the "Mission Climate" in Dortmund is now imminent. All interested citizens, businesses, and associations are cordially invited to the "Mission Climate" kick-off event on July 14, 2026. The event will bring together representatives from politics, administration, and the business community, along with engaged citizens, to discuss pathways toward a climate-neutral city.

At the City Hall workshop, Michael Jeskulke from the Emschergenossenschaft/Lippeverband provided information on the "Klima.Werk Zukunftsinitiative" and funding opportunities for climate adaptation measures, both large and small. Additionally, a presentation from the Social Research Centre (Sozialforschungsstelle) highlighted and discussed the importance of positive narratives in driving change.

As the Climate City Dash 2.0 project draws to a close, this fifth workshop marked the final meeting in this specific format; however, the topics will continue to be pursued within the network — not least at the "Mission Climate" kick-off event on July 14, 2026. We hope to see many committed businesses and citizens there again and to continue the conversation.
