The sfs as an important knowledge center for foreign doctoral students

In November Concetta Giusto presented her doctoral research project at the sfs.

From September 2025 to March 2026, Concetta Giusto is doing research at the sfs at the TU Dortmund. She is a visiting doctoral student from the department of Political Science at the University of Pisa. Her doctoral research focuses on social innovation in education and she has chosen sfs as an international reference point in the field of social innovation studies, due to the relevance and impact of the research carried out at the center.

This research stay, which brings internalisation efforts to the Social Research Center and the Faculty of Social Sciences, is the result of the collaboration between Dr. Karina Maldonado-Mariscal and Concetta Giusto.

On November 11, Concetta Giusto presented her ongoing work in a talk entitled “Social innovation as a transformation of practices: the PEZ case in Tuscany Region”, sharing preliminary insights from her research and receiving valuable feedback for the next stages of the project.

From the very first month, the experience has been particularly fruitful, says Ms. Giusto. Continuous exchange with Dr. Maldonado-Mariscal and with the center’s researchers has enabled the doctoral student to examine and refine her analytical frameworks, and to develop her research objectives and methodological tools in light of the international debate promoted by the German research group.
