Social innovation research has come of age and these days it continues on its road towards institutionalisation. So, what’s next? The European School of Social Innovation (ESSI) takes the recently published Research Agenda for Social Innovation as an opportunity to discuss current topics on research on social innovation and possible controversies with colleagues in an interactive webinar.

For long it has been discussed whether one can even talk about an academic field of research, but these days it continues on its road towards institutionalisation. Next to networks such as the European School of Social Innovation (ESSI) and the International Social Innovation Research Conference (ISIRC), many European and nationally funded projects focusing on social innovations in different policy domains, there are also academic journals such as the EPSIR or Novation becoming more established. So, what’s next for social innovation research? ESSI invites you to discuss the hot topics, those that deserve continued attention as well as possible controversies with your peers during this interactive webinar.

ESSI will take the publication of "A Research Agenda for Social Innovation", edited by Jürgen Howaldt, Christoph Kaletka and Antonius Schröder as an opportunity to discuss which topics and which methodologies should be put on such an agenda and why. The webinar will open with a plenary presentation by the editors providing a first overview, before it moves into break-out groups to allow for deeper interaction and discussion on selected topics, hosted by internationally renowned authors. The webinar closes with a plenary dialogue on the road ahead on how to implement such a research agenda.

Please join the webinar virtually on April 5th, 14:00 - 16:00 CET. The registration and selection of the working group is possible until March 31st. As the number of participants is limited, we would ask to register here as soon as possible.
