With this project, the Social Research Centre aims to optimise works council work in ‘simple work companies’ and promote the principles of co-determination among the workforce. Together with the ServiceDo works council and trade unions, solutions are to be developed that are based on the actors' real-life orientation patterns and support them in their active works council work. The project is funded by the Hans Böckler Foundation

So-called ‘low skilled jobs’, i.e. jobs that can be learned quickly and do not require relevant vocational training, are very important for the German economy. They can be found in many areas of the economy. This makes it all the more relevant that even (supposedly) ‘simple jobs’ meet society's standards for good work, including through collective agreements and company regulations. This project aims to empower works council committees whose members are predominantly unskilled workers. These workers are embedded in a variety of cultural working and living environments and are not fully familiar with local economic and co-determination practices. Together with the works council of ServiceDO gGmbh, the service department of Dortmund Hospital and ver.di Bezirk Westfalen, solutions and possible tools are to be developed to support unskilled workers in active works council work.https://www.einfacharbeit.de/fileadmin/user_upload/Einfacharbeit_Abschlussbericht_zum_Projekt_NEU_FINAL_V2.pdf
