At the “You Can! Conference on Inclusion in Working Life” hosted by BAG WfbM, Lisa Preissner presented findings from her PhD project on transitions of people with mental disabilities from sheltered workshops (WfbM) to the general labor market in front of an audience of around 180 participants.

From the 11th to the 13th of March 2026, the “You Can! Conference on Inclusion in Working Life” was held by the Federal Association of Sheltered Workshops for People with Disabilities (BAG WfbM). On the 12th of March, Lisa Preissner presented her PhD project entitled “Pathways into the General Labor Market: What Hinders and What Facilitates the Transition of People with Mental Disabilities from Sheltered Workshops?”

Lisa Preissners presentation addressed a research area that has so far received limited academic attention and highlighted both facilitating and inhibiting factors in the transition from sheltered workshops (WfbM) to the general labor market. The analysis is based on a scoping review that systematically examines the current state of research.

The subsequent discussion brought together a wide range of practical experiences, challenges, and perspectives. The professional exchange underlined the high relevance of the topic for both research and practice.
