What is the future of social innovation, and what are the urgent research questions that need to be answered in order to use the potential of the topic area of social innovation, that is as dynamic as it is controversial? In the "Research Agenda for Social Innovation," edited by Jürgen Howaldt, Christoph Kaletka, and Antonius Schröder (Sozialforschungsstelle, TU Dortmund University), internationally recognized experts offer insights into the various strands of research on social innovation and explore the history and theory of this increasingly influential research field.

The single chapters describe the range of social innovation and show reasons for the increased political and public interest. Contributions to the book address social innovation in education, poverty reduction, environmental policy, and health.

Against the background of their many years of research, the internationally renowned authors analyze different approaches and illustrate the status and challenges of social innovation research in the respective topic areas. At the same time, they elaborate on the framework conditions and infrastructures that are necessary to make social innovations useful for tackling the major challenges facing society.

The "Research Agenda for Social Innovation" has been published by Elgar in November 2021.
