The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research has launched the "Society of Ideas" competition for social innovations. Prof. Dr. Jürgen Howaldt will give a keynote speech at the launch event.

Social innovations have the potential to change the way society interacts and provide answers to important questions of our time. The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research has therefore launched the "Society of Ideas" competition for social innovations.

The final projects will be awarded prizes and presented at the digital launch event on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m., among the more than 1,000 project ideas submitted.

Following the welcome by the Federal Minister of Education and Research Bettina Stark-Watzinger, Prof. Dr. Jürgen Howaldt will give a keynote speech on social innovations.

Afterwards, representatives of the projects will join experts in panel discussions to discuss how their ideas offer socially innovative solutions to challenges in the areas of urban and rural, virtual and real, or young and old. Afterwards, the dedicated people behind the projects will be available for an exchange in a digital fair of ideas.

The event is free, can be followed via live stream page and will be simultaneously translated by two sign language interpreters. Registration is still possible until January 26, 2022.
